How We Help Clients

Enabling Lasting Change Through Engineering

Cloud Engineering

Organisations have been consistently transforming their infrastructure for decades, from physical servers to server virtualisation, and now the shift to cloud. These Builds and Migrations can take many forms, such as transitioning from on-premise infrastructure or moving from a hybrid model to adopting a multi-cloud approach. We’re highly mindful of the material impact which design decisions from the first day can have on the operational overhead moving forward. As a result, our design patterns have scalability, supportability and security baked into their core from the outset.

Our multi-disciplinary teams work to design, scale, protect and optimise cloud services to best serve the organisation’s changeable requirements, while aligning and embedding best security practices, to allow for the cost optimisation and capital reallocation into other business features and functionality permitted by a flexible provisioning model.

We work with our clients to develop the capability to fully leverage the benefits of cloud and adapt to the cultural and process changes which accompany, while minimising risk through a staged approach to transition.

We Enable Our Clients To:

  • Align to best practices in migrating workloads to best-fit-for-purpose cloud providers, automate the path to production for quicker release cycles
  • Modernise decades of complex legacy systems in weeks not months, accelerate time to market by harnessing the agility of cloud-native services
  • Realise fast, secure and low risk application deployments of cloud-based components and processes with zero‑downtime patching
  • Improve availability and service for end users through faster adoption of technological advancements in cloud
  • Minimise total cost of ownership through the use of commoditised cloud services and establish patterns for subsequent application migrations
  • Apply greater focus to the identification, targeting and pursuit of new business growth opportunities, leading to higher rates of success than previously realised

Enterprise DevOps

An organisation’s ability to adapt and transform remains key to its ongoing success and profitability in better leveraging newer technologies and address customer needs. However, when it comes to DevOps (often intertwined with the concept of Digital Transformation), business leaders are still scratching their heads. Fundamentally, DevOps is a way of working with automation at its core, combining tasks and activities which would traditionally be siloed across distinct functional areas, such as Development, Operations, Testing, Security, etc., while shifting to a more engineering focused approach towards taking a concept from ideation through to production consistently, repeatably and securely. DevOps allows teams and organisations to focus less on the repetitive tasks, and instead focus on the more value driving aspects of delivery.

For us, Enterprise DevOps means DevSecOps, because if the DevOps capability does not inherently include security, then it’s simply not fit for purpose.

One of the key challenges with the adoption of DevOps at scale across organisations is the ability to drive the adoption of the ways of working which addresses organisation-wide objectives. Our approach enables organisations to achieve this organically at scale.

We Enable Our Clients To:

  • Define, implement and optimise an enterprise-wide DevOps strategy covering tools, frameworks, practices and approach
  • Accelerate cross-functional teams through a focus on organic scalability to drive greater adoption at a lower cost with higher enablement of the team
  • Enable true automation from Development to Operations through the shifting left of security, data, quality, governance and visibility
  • Develop an engagement and transformation roadmap which platform and product teams are able to leverage to progress along a maturity scale
  • Elevate the organisation’s responsiveness to market demands through significantly reduced delivery timeframes
  • Lower risk of changes and deliver known outcomes through accurate assessment and decrease the frequency of defects in production

Site Reliability Engineering

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) employs software engineering techniques to ensure the stability and availability of production environments while allowing for the simultaneous addition of new features and operational improvements to be made as required through automation. SRE can also serve to minimise the friction which can occur between development and operations teams. These teams work to directives which can come into conflict, with developers wanting to release new features into production and operations teams wanting to be sure the next release will not lead to outages or service degradation. As a result, while not strictly required for Enterprise DevOps, SRE aligns closely with DevOps principles and can play an important role in it’s success.

Our Site Reliability Engineers work with clients to improve availability, performance, effectiveness, incident response, and monitoring of their service. SRE is accountable for all the constituent parts which ensure the organisation’s services remain reliable for the user.

Our focus on SLA-Driven monitoring ensures our clients deliver against their core metrics.

We Enable Our Clients To:

  • Improve operational SLAs and customer outcomes through real time continuous monitoring and analysis of application performance
  • Maintain operational flexibility across platforms within the organisation through automated processes and in-system playbooks
  • Improve operational readiness and supportability by aligning the organisation to SRE principles as part of the overall product roadmap
  • Minimise disruption to customer experience through the implementation of robust procedures for the seamless handling of incidents and black-outs
  • Shift-left the identification and resolution of incidents through effective application logging and diagnostics
  • Build the right communication channels and engagement models to enable organisational change to improve visibility and collaboration across the value stream

Quality & Security Engineering

With the shift towards Continuous Delivery and automation, the requirement for consistency at speed and scale across these crucial facets only increases. Without the appropriate processes, practices and technologies to address Quality and Security, organisations can abruptly be met with business critical risk. Quality and Security have to be engineered into the solution from the outset during design and planning, with the mechanisms in place to drive a continuous feedback loop to anticipate and act on the unknown. Quality and Security engineering has to continually evolve in an increasingly complex technological environment, to be a pervasive, real-time, and insight-driven function, augmented by AI-led autonomous frameworks, with the capacity to utilise intelligent incident reporting and self-healing processes.

The importance of ensuring information security risks are identified and mitigated across the entire organisational IT state cannot be overstated, particularly in the context of the complexity of modern IT environments. With our Infrastructure-as-Code models and Continuous Delivery techniques, tools and processes, security is able to keep pace with development and accelerate the release of robust, secure applications.

Our team ensures these areas are not only addressed earlier in the delivery process, but also embedded as part of your delivery cycle to secure and assure your organisation’s assets, products and experiences.

We Enable Our Clients To:

  • Mitigate risk exposure through identification and remediation of vulnerabilities across platforms and applications
  • Enable quick recovery from incident impact through identification of assets, monitoring and protecting against the known and unknown threats
  • Utilise a shift-left strategy through continuous testing models which leverage automation to verify quality and secuirty of features before a line of code is committed to production
  • Drive consistency of quality benchmarks across products and platforms within the organisation through the creation of pattern libraries, testing models and Centres of Excellence
  • Build the right approach for the organisation to identify its assets, protect against the known threats, monitor for the unknown threats, respond proactively to risks, and recover quickly from any impact through Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM)
  • Establish a set of secure platform design principles in collaboration with the security and architecture teams, along with how to embed secure architecture principles into the SDLC process

Product Engineering

We work with our clients to develop a cohesive product strategy, roadmap, and build the internal capability for effective Product Lifecycle Management. A seamless omni-channel experience becomes even more imperative for success with digital channels. Our combination of industry knowledge and technical specialisation, allows us to gain a deeper understanding of requirements and expectations which can oftentimes be missed in the hand-off between different providers. This close working relationship with our clients allows us to create more than just a website or mobile application. We develop new business capabilities through the creation of a solution with the right balance of consideration, creativity and technology.

Our Consultants come from a broad span of industry and technical backgrounds and therefore are able to provide well-rounded strategic direction, the design capability and engineering know-how together to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
